National Adoption Month: X is for…
#NationalAdoptionAwareness Month. X is for #X-Out
X was probably one of the more difficult letters to think of. I then thought about how people have crossed me out of their lives because of my choice to place rather than parent. For them it was easier to walk away rather than address the concerns of a friendship or acquaintance. When it first happened I took it personally, but after 13 years I have came to accept that people have a difficult time processing topics such as adoption. Some people wanted to communicate with me but anything that had to deal with me and Lil Miss was off limits. To me…if you want to have any type of relationship with me you must accept me for all of me and not just parts of my life. We all have situations in our life that we may not be that proud of, I mean…how many of us have stories from when we were 21 and being just young and stupid? Some experiences are sometimes more visible than others.
