National Adoption Month: Z is for…

#NationalAdoptionAwareness Month. Z is for #Zen

Zen, a word that one may not think of when talking about adoption. How can a topic such as adoption be zen, especially from a birthmother’s perspective? Zen is feeling at peace and relaxed, and this is something that I try to strive for when it comes to looking at these past 13+ years. The first zen moment I had was when I meant D&N for the first time at the adoption agency. On the drive to the agency I was a wreck with many emotions going through me, but the moment I walked into that conference room and saw D&N sitting there, I knew deep in my heart that these two individuals were meant to be the parents of Lil Miss who would be born two months later. My anxious thoughts and feelings began to slip away the more we discussed various things such as baby names, post-adoption agreement contracts, and what I wanted from everyone when it came to labor and delivery. D&N have been able to provide a home that I always wanted for Lil Miss and if one didn’t know it one would think that Lil Miss was their biological child due to looking fairly similar to them as well.
