National Adoption Month: G is for…

#NationalAdoptionAwareness Month

G is for: Girlfriends in adoption

Just after my placement was completed…or it could have been a couple months before placement, I became involved with an organization, Birthmom Buds. It is an online organization that provides support to birth moms of all ages. Within this organization I have a circle of girlfriends who I love dearly. We all understand how each is feeling as we have been down each road or can relate to the things each one is feeling. The five of us have spent time in tears, silly late car rides, trips to get cupcakes at a bakery that sells alcohol infused cupcakes, late night hysterical laughter while playing Cards Against Humanity. I don’t see these girls often as we are spread across the United States, but when we get together it is as if time has not been missed, and we pick up where we left off. Without these girlfriends who I have a close relationship with for 13 years…it would be difficult to know how I would have managed down the path of post placement.
