National Adoption Month: C is for…

National Adoption Month: C is for…

Amy D, my adoption counselor who inspired me to go into the career field of social work.

November is #NationalAdoptionAwareness Month. I am choosing to participate in a month long event where I will do one photo a day on how adoption relates to me with each day with a letter of the alphabet.

C is for: #Career

When I first began my journey down the adoption world, I never thought that I would want to go into the career field of social work. After working through my own adoption pre & post placement counseling, my social worker at the agency I placed with said that I would be excellent as a social worker. 4 years down the road as I sat in my first couple social work classes, I knew that this was the right path for me to go on. I am not currently working in the adoption field, but that is one of my future goals if it is meant to be. In the meantime I am a substance abuse counselor at a local non-profit agency along the coast line of Eastern Connecticut.
